Upcoming 'Scream' Film Gets Its Official Title 'Scream VI'

Scream VI will come to movie audiences next year in March, and this time around those in charge of the film's title have ditched numbers, in favor of Roman numerals.

The survivors from this year's Scream will leave their tragic pasts behind them in Woodsboro, setting their sights on a new experience in The Big Apple, for another Scream chapter that has been promising more blood and gore to its fans. Sam and Tara Carpenter, along with the Meeks-Martin twins, Chad and Mandy, will travel to New York City where they soon come to realize that they can't escape the legacy of Ghostface, even in one of America's largest and busiest cities.

Directed by Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett, Scream VI is once again written by James Vanderbilt and Guy Busick. Scream creator Kevin Williamson serves as the film's executive producer with Brian Tyler also returning to score the film. Melissa Barrera, Jenna Ortega, Jasmin Savoy Brown, Mason Gooding, and Courteney Cox return, along with Hayden Panettiere who returns to the franchise as Kirby Reed from Scream 4. New additions to the cast include Dermot Mulroney, Samara Weaving, and Tony Revolori.

It should be exciting times ahead now that the film's official title has been revealed. It's my best guess that those behind Scream VI will release the film's poster within the month of December. Once that happens, a teaser trailer will be right behind it, and Scream fans will have plenty of hype to go off of, and into the new year.

Produced by Spyglass Media Group, Radio Silence Productions, and Project X Entertainment, Scream VI will be distributed by Paramount Pictures when it releases next year to theaters on Friday, March 10.
