Due to a legal loophole under the termination provisions of the Copyright Act of 1976, Clive Barker is able to get back the rights to the story that he wrote and the movie that it spawned.
Having waited 35 years and sending in the right paperwork within a 2-5 year window, Barker and his attorney were able to confirm a settlement with Park Avenue Entertainment, who previously owned the rights to Hellraiser.
No news yet on how this will affect the HBO series that is in production but due to Clive Barker’s involvement and this new news, good things should be in store for fans.
