MOVIES: Upcoming Horror Movies In December

It’s December and that means decorations are going up and Christmas cheer is building. As we embrace the holiday season here at Horror Junket, we find that there is no better way to have a happy Christmas then to indulge in everything that is blood, guts and horror. To prepare for all this stomach churning good cheer let’s dive headfirst into some movies that will keep you going for this most wintery of months.

Hitting theaters this December is the second remake of the classic Bob Clark (The guy who directed A Christmas Story), bloody Christmas tale, Black Christmas. Produced by Blumhouse and directed by Sophia Takal, this new take on the Christmas horror classic will feature Imogen Poots and Cary Elwes in a story about sorority sisters against a killer, or killers.

Coming early December we have the DVD and Blu-ray releases of Ready or Not and IT: Chapter Two. Whether you’re into the family that kills together or cherish the tale of friends against a killer clown, both movies are sure to bring some terror to your holiday cheer.

Starring Samara Weaving, Adam Brody and Andie McDowell, Ready or Not is about the game of Hide and Seek you never want to play with your new in-laws. Ready or Not will be available on DVD and Blu-ray December 3rd.

For those Pennywise fans looking to add IT: Chapter Two to their collections, you have only to wait a little longer. Starring James McAvoy, Jessica Chastain and Bill Hader, fans will be able to get their hands on the conclusion to the terrors in the small town of Derry, Maine on December 10th.

Snowed in and no way to get your hands on DVDs or Blu-rays? Might I suggest giving We Summon the Darkness or Rabid a holiday viewing? Fans of Alexandra Daddario, Johnny Knoxville and music that isn’t Jingle Bells, will want to check out We Summon the Darkness, a movie set in the late eighties with a ‘who done it?’ vibe.

If rock shows aren’t your thing maybe experiments gone wrong will get you out of that Christmas mood. Rabid, starring Laura Vandervoort and WWE Wrestler C.M. Punk, is sure to frighten those that might be into the story of a stem cell treatment that horrifically alters the life of a fashion designer. Both films will release to Video on Demand this coming December 13th.

As the 24 days of Christmas begin to countdown fans of horror will hopefully have these movies and more to get them through the holiday season. So roast some chestnuts, make that hot chocolate and indulge yourself in some terror before the real horrors of Christmas truly take over, one scary movie at a time.
