Horrific Recap of August 8 - 14, 2021

Hey there, horror fans and welcome back! It's the start of a new week and that means it's time for another Horrific Recap, brought to you by Horror Junket. Thank you for dropping by because I'm excited to get a few of last week's horror tidbits to you, and if you haven't done so already, go ahead and grab your pillow tight—a little tighter now, because things are about to get all bump in the night as we recap some of last week's spookiest horror news.

Sunday - August 8

A new trilogy of books is coming for the Buffy the Vampire Slayer universe, published by Disney Hyperion and written by Kendare Blake.

In Every Generation will be the first novel in the set of three young adult books, and will not focus on the favored vampire slayer, Buffy. Attention will instead be turned towards the offspring of someone very close to the much loved slayer.

Kendare Blake will write the story of Frankie Rosenberg, daughter of Willow, who is trying to find her place as both a witch and slayer. A sophomore at New Sunnydale High, Frankie also learns from her mother about being a good witch and using her powers to help the world.

A new generation of slayer is born early next year when In Every Generation, the first of three books, arrives on shelves and digitally January 4, 2022.

Monday - August 9

Catherine Zeta-Jones joins Wednesday, the upcoming Netflix series from Tim Burton.

The Oscar winning actress will join Jenna Ortega and Luis Guzmán, for the live action series that stars Ortega's Wednesday Addams, as she navigates school, life and her kooky mysterious family.

The eight episode series continues its dealings in pre-production with the possibilities of filming starting later this year.

Tuesday - August 10

Written and directed by Edoardo Vitaletti, The Last Thing Mary Saw will tell the story of a woman under investigation for the murder of her family's matriarch. Starring Isabelle Fuhrman, Rory Culkin, Stefanie Scott and Carolyn McCormick, The Last Thing Mary Saw makes its Fantasia premiere later this week on August 15.

The updates keep coming from I Know What You Need as the Stephen King Dollar Baby short film completes filming in Maine.

"After an absolutely magical week long shoot at the University of Maine, I Know What You Need has finished principal photography! Every single cast and crew member brought their absolute A-game!" says director Julia Marchese, who continues to say, "Now we move on to editing, sound, color correction, music, and all those other fun post-production goodies. I will keep you posted along the way and post some BTS photos too!"

Sam Reid has been cast in the upcoming Interview with the Vampire series coming from Rolin Jones and AMC.

Reid joins the project as Lestat de Lioncourt, the vampire who was first brought to life in Anne Rice's 1976 novel. This is the first news we've heard from the series since it was green-lit back in June

With news of Sam Reid taking the part of Lestat, it is only a matter of time before we get news on who is to play the roles of Louis and Claudia.

Saturday - August 14

The trailer for Noah's Shark hit YouTube today and it surely has an outrageous story to tell.

Directed by Mark Polonia and written by John Oak Dalton, Noah's Shark will tell the farfetched story of fame-seeking televangelist, Father Benna and his film crew, on a mission to find Noah's Ark. Upon discovery of the biblical artifact, the group soon discover that the Ark is cursed and guarded by a prehistoric great white shark.

Starring Jeff Kirkendall, Ryan Dalton, Jamie Morgan and Tim Hatch, Noah's Shark will release later this year on November 2.

That's all for this week in horror. I know it's too much but it is my hope that I at least keep you informed of some of what is going on in the world of horror, even if it is this tiny bit. I look forward to get this Horrific Recap to you, and I hope you enjoy reading it, as much I enjoy writing it. Like I recommend, sometimes it's best to go out an scream at the top of your lungs for a bit. It's quite soothing and man if don't clear your lungs and head out a bit. I'll see you next week.
