Universal Pictures Kicks Off An Oscars Campaign For Jordan Peele's 'Nope'

An exciting Oscars campaign has begun, spearheaded by Universal Pictures, in the hope that Nope gets nominated for as many award categories as it can. It's not every day you see sci-fi/horror movies being considered for Oscar Gold, but it does happen and if things go well, Nope could bring about more wins for writer/director/producer Jordan Peele.

On their YouTube channel, Universal Pictures has released a For Your Consideration video for Nope, a short featuring some of the best shots and moments in the film. A bevy of nominations are sure to come Nope's way, the film having enjoyed numerous positive reviews since its release back in late July of this year. I would be shocked if there weren't nominations for Best Picture, Best Director, Best Original Screenplay, and of course, Best Actress for Keke Palmer.

Written and directed by Jordan Peele, produced by Monkeypaw Productions, and distributed by Universal Pictures. The film starts with a bang, the audience witness to the aftermath of an animal attack on the set of a family TV show filmed in front of a LIVE studio audience. Years later, the story centers on the Haywood siblings, brother and sister, who become the new owners of the family ranch after the tragic death of their uncle, played by Keith David. Things take a turn for the mysterious when the siblings discover a UFO stalking their ranch, eating the horses and letting the stuff that can't be digested by the alien fall back to earth. What happens after is a great combination of storytelling, camerawork, and acting, making Nope a true contender for whatever Oscar nominations come its way.

Nope stars Daniel Kaluuya, Keke Palmer, Steven Yeun, Michael Wincott, Brandon Perea, Osgood Perkins, Eddie Jemison, and Keith David. If you haven't seen Nope yet, the film is streaming on Peacock for the next few months, before moving over to Amazon Prime next year. Go and see what all the talk of Nope is about, and then tune into the 95th Oscars in March of next year, hosted by Jimmy Kimmel.
