Go Mia Goth! The X actress is truly bringing attention to the spookiest genre of them all with her Independent Spirit Award nomination for Best Lead Performance in Pearl.
The actress first captivated audiences in Ti West's 1970's horror/adult film inspired hit, X, before capturing lightening in bottle again with Pearl, a prequel horror hit inspired by X. Audiences were truly struck by Mia Goth's performance in Pearl, along with the film's eerie ending and Goth's 9-minute monologue.
Mia Goth will go up against actresses Michelle Yeoh, Cate Blanchett, Regina Hall, and Aubrey Plaza, for the Lead Performance award. Other competition will include actors Dale Dickey, Paul Mescal, and Taylor Russell, the Independent Spirit Awards having done away with gendered award categories just this year.
That's a lot of competition for one category but my hopes are high for Mia Goth, a marvelous actress that is bringing some much needed attention to the horror genre. Mia Goth fans, and movie fans alike, will want to tune into the Independent Spirit Awards that will take place next year on Saturday, March 4, 2023.
